The High Point University Club Womenâs Ice Hockey Program is a dynamic and organization that provides opportunities for all students to participate in womenâs ice hockey within an environment that promotes both a passion for the sport and ongoing athlete development. The programâs off-campus indoor practice facility offers a uniquely collaborative setting that enhances the overall strength and success of the HPU Club Womenâs Ice Hockey Program.
The Head Club Coach for the HPU Womenâs Ice Hockey Program is responsible for the leadership, coordination, and instruction of the competitive club program in a manner consistent with High Point Universityâs vision, mission, and values, while operating within the established budget. The Head Coach plays an integral role in fostering an environment that supports the growth and development of student-athletes both on the ice and as engaged members of the university community.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Experience and Training:
- Bachelorâs Degree in related field
- Experience Coaching and developing athletes who have a range of skill levels, goals and abilities (including those with high performance goals and those who seek being a team member)
- Meet ACHA coaching requirements
- Valid First Aid certificate (minimum Basic First Aid with CPR C/AED)
- Valid Driverâs License
Knowledge, Skills, Ability:
- Experience planning and implementing training plans and competition and selection protocols
- Experience managing and coordinating a large athletic program
- Demonstrated ability to coach sound Womenâs Ice Hockey techniques
- Competence in current sports training technologies
- Familiar with safety rules and procedures for Womenâs Ice Hockey
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), and social media
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:
Club Program Management and Development
- Designs and implements a Womenâs Ice Hockey program to develop athletes. This includes establishing goals,
- structure and direction for the program as a whole.
- Recruits, hires, orients, supervises, and mentors the assistant coach to create an effective coaching staff.
- Works with the Athletic Director to develop a 3-year plan for the HPU Club Womenâs Ice Hockey
- Program.
- Consults with Athletic Director in a collaborative manner on the development and
- implementation of the HPU Club Womenâs Ice Hockey Program.
Coaching and Athlete Development
- Coaches all members of the HPU Club Womenâs Ice Hockey Program for the Fall and Spring Semesters.
- Establishes consistent and transparent training plans and selection and athlete monitoring protocols
- while working with the assistant coach to refine and implement them.
- Recruits athletes to the HPU Club Womenâs Ice Hockey Program.
- Organizes and maintains up to date registration, contact and medical information.
Communication
- Communicates transparent HPU Club Womenâs Ice Hockey Program information to athletes and Assistant Athletic Director.
- In cooperation with Assistant Athletic Director, maintain and disseminate information on HPU Club Womenâs Ice Hockey Program, including registration process and timelines (including publicizing on HPU Club Womenâs Ice Hockey Website and Social Media).
- Maintains up to date program information on HPU Club Womenâs Ice Hockey Website and HPU Club Sports Website.
- Ensures that the High Point University Vision, Mission, Values and Policies (especially with regard to safety and equipment) are understood and adhered to by all athletes and the assistant coach.
Equipment
- Informs Assistant Athletic Director of all equipment and other needs of the HPU Club Womenâs Ice Hockey Program.
- Liaises with Assistant Athletic Director and assistant coach to ensure equipment is in working order for the HPU Club Womenâs Ice Hockey Program.
