The Assistant Girls Hockey Coach will work to ensure safety, skill development, and progress of each player during the season. The coach will assist the planning, organizing, and implementation of the workouts/practices as well as monitoring and supporting of the academic development of the student/athletes. The assistant coach reports directly to the Head Coach, Athletic Director and Principal. This position requires: MIAA Coaches Certification, Prior Playing and Coaching Experience Preferred.
In addition, all coaches are expected:
β’ Organize players for pre-season and post-season meetings.
β’ Maintain good relations with parents, officials, volunteers and fans.
β’ Effectively communicate and work with students, administrators, staff, parents, and the community.
β’ Have a thorough knowledge of the athletic policy at Billerica Public Schools.
β’ Be a positive role model and motivator, exhibit qualities of leadership and organizational ability.
β’ Communicate with athletic trainer concerning injuries and student playing status
β’ Monitor and support student-athletes academic progress.Β
β’ Work collaboratively with the booster program.
β’ Be Certified in or willing to obtain certification for the following:

____ First Aid and CPR/AED
Coaching positions may qualify for contributions in the Massachusetts Teachers Retirement System (MTRS) if a coach has current/prior experience working in a school district. Coaches new to the district will need to inform our payroll department if he/she should be contributing to the MTRS.Β Otherwise, he/she would contribute to OBRA.
