St. Paul Academy and Summit School: St. Paul Academy and Summit School (SPA) is a coeducational, non-sectarian, college preparatory day school serving more than 920 students in kindergarten through grade 12. Our two campuses are located approximately a mile apart in St. Paul, Minnesota, serving Grades K-5 on our Goodrich Campus and Grades 6-12 on our Randolph Campus. SPA believes Athletics contributes to the overall educational experience of our students, where lessons learned in sport are as valuable as those learned in the classroom. The Athletics program at SPA is one of the most successful in the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL). SPA is ranked in the top 20 of all MSHSL schools in the number state for championships won. Our student athletes have been recognized as some of the top athletes in the state, region and country. The women�s soccer team has been in the state tournament each of the last three years and won the state championship in 2023. Additionally, a number of former and current team members plan to play at the college level in the future.

St. Paul Academy and Summit School seeks candidates for the position of Assistant Boys� Varsity Hockey Coach. This coach will serve our boys' hockey players in grades for a 5 school co-op that SPA oversees and will be responsible for assisting the Head Coach's vision for the program and for helping to execute a plan to successfully lead, develop, and nurture our student-athletes in a positive educational based athletic philosophy. The season begins in November and runs through early March in 2026. The Athletics program at SPA is one of the most successful in the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL). SPA is ranked in the top 20 of all MSHSL schools in the number state for championships won. Our student athletes have been recognized as some of the top athletes in the state, region and country. The SPA Boys Hockey program is historic as it was established in 1907 and is recognized as the oldest high school hockey team in the state.

Candidates will be required to demonstrate strong organizational skills, effective communication skills with students, parents, and administration, teach and develop essential hockey skills, display positive game conduct and develop players� ability to work together as a team. A qualified candidate should have coaching experience at the high school level. Candidates should support the mission of SPA and be able to contribute to the positive culture of the hockey program and to the life of the School outside of their coaching responsibilities whenever possible.

Other duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Creating a positive environment that promotes good sportsmanship.

  • Work closely with the other coaches and the US Athletics Directors to continue building this terrific program

  • Assist in creating well-organized and structured practices

  • Provides effective supervision and evaluation of all players

  • Create a rapport with the great community, generating interest in the program

  • Be visible in the greater youth community

  • Show a willingness to create a compelling program where roles are clearly defined, opportunities are provided for all

  • Recognize contributions of all; impress upon the athletes and parents that their efforts are valued

  • Participate as a positive team member in the development and support of excellence within the Athletic Department.
