Description:
An experienced, energetic athletic maintenance staff member will report to the Manager, Athletic Maintenance and the Supervisor, Arena, he or she will need to provide Boston College, Boston College Athletics and the public with clean and safe athletic facilities and playing surfaces.Ā
Applicant must show strong skills; in reading diagrams as well as written and verbal communication. Must have proven ability to work and communicate well with other Athletic Maintenance staff and other
University members such as; Ā Athletic Department, BC Facilities Service staff, students, athletes, coaches and contracted vendors. Must be able to work on their own and others on projects and tasks with sensitive timelines. Must be able to work in extreme cold and hot weather.
At least 3 years working experience operating an ice resurfacing machine.Ā This includes experience
operating the Zamboni 552 in game situations with two ice resurfacing machines operating simultaneously. Must possess working knowledge of daily maintenance of ice resurfacers and have ability to complete tasks quickly and safely. Demonstrated knowledge of operation of ice field refrigeration equipment including monitoring, troubleshooting and related safety procedures.Ā
Duties include but are not limited to maintaining: natural grass surfaces, synthetic playing surfaces, stadium maintenance, maintenance of surrounding landscapes, walks, parking lots and planting beds. Maintenance of outdoor and indoor recreational areas; tennis and basketball courts, arena maintenance including; rink, basketball floor and various function setup and breakdown. The Athletic Maintenance Department supports many University events including, but not limited to: commencement, Masses, tailgating events, alumni weekend, concerts/live performances and other functions. Ā
Daily tasks include but are not limited to:
trashing, blowing, mowing, string trimming, field painting, sweeping, raking, shoveling, tamping, carrying 50lbs bags or other material over long distances, measuring, cleaning, climbing ladders, light mechanics, performing tasks on ice and slippery surfaces and general maintenance work as well as mentioned arena tasks or any other work assigned to by manager. Safely operate Zamboniās, golf carts, Toolcats, skid steers, mowers, blowers, utility vehicles, forklifts, and other turf and rink related equipment.
Base Rate: $34.11 - $36.77 per hour depending on qualifications
