Director of Marketing & Game Day Operations - Ice Realm

Ontario Jr Reign | San Diego Sabers | St. John Bosco Prep Hockey
Southern California | Junior A & Prep School Hockey | Live Events & Media

About the Role

The Ontario Jr Reign, San Diego Sabers, and St. John Bosco Varsity Hockey program are seeking a hockey-savvy, reliable professional to lead marketing, media, and game day operations across our organizations.

This is a senior, hands-on leadership role β€” not an internship, not a side hustle, and not a purely social media position. You will be responsible for how our programs look, sound, and operate publicly, while also executing the live environment of games, broadcasts, showcases, and major events.

This role is ideal for someone with a background in hockey or live sports who understands the pace, pressure, and standards required on game day and in recruiting environments.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing, Media & Creative

  • Create and manage all outward-facing creative materials including:
    • Social graphics
    • Posters and promotional assets
    • Recruiting materials and decks
    • Sponsorship collateral
  • Edit video content including:
    • Game highlights
    • Recruiting videos
    • Feature and promotional clips
  • Write original copy for:
    • Social posts
    • Game recaps
    • Recruiting and marketing materials
  • Maintain team websites and digital platforms
  • Ensure brand consistency across all organizations
(This role requires original creative thinking β€” we are not seeking someone who relies solely on AI-generated content.)

Social Media

  • Plan and execute weekly content calendars
  • Manage live game coverage including scores, clips, and behind-the-scenes content
  • Publish content before, during, and immediately after games
  • Coordinate photographers, interns, and contributors to ensure consistent, high-quality coverage

Game Day Operations

  • Oversee all front-end home game execution including:
    • Game-day scripts
    • PA and music
    • Scoreboard and fan presentation
  • Coordinate scorekeepers, broadcasters, interns, and front-end staff
  • Manage merchandise setup and tear-down
  • Execute theme nights, promotions, and special events

Broadcast Operations

  • Set up and operate HockeyTV and OBS systems
  • Manage cameras, audio, computers, and networking
  • Schedule and oversee broadcast staff
  • Troubleshoot live production issues under pressure
  • Secure and maintain broadcast equipment post-game

Recruiting Showcases & Camps

  • Create marketing materials, registration pages, and communications
  • Manage rosters, schedules, and player data
  • Coordinate staff, officials, and event logistics

  • Support sponsorship fulfillment through:

Leadership & Operations

  • Manage and mentor interns and contributors
  • Assist with roster updates and league systems
  • Track compliance items (waivers, SafeSport, etc.)
  • Support community events, appearances, and travel logistics as needed

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and related creative tools
  • Experience with live sports production and broadcasts
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and dependable
  • Comfortable working nights and weekends during the season
  • Able to work independently and problem-solve under pressure
  • Hockey background or strong understanding of the game is strongly preferred

What This Role Is (and Isn’t)

The role offers a competitive compensation package with opportunities for performance-based incentives. Travel expenses for team-related events are covered. Compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role.
