Job Title:

Hockey Coordinator, KHS

Pay Details:

The starting hourly rate for this position is $27.00 per hour.

Summary of Position

This position supports and assists the management, development, and implementation of Adult and Youth hockey programming in a manner supportive of The Rinks objectives as outlined in the Mission Statement. This includes promoting and administering hockey leagues and programs, clinics, leagues, and grassroots programs in an on-ice and off-ice role and other duties as assigned.

This position requires high-level league management, organizational skills, a practical approach to on-ice presence for large groups, and an adept understanding of USA Hockey development, rules, and league formats.

​​Responsibilities

Program Administration

  • As directed by General Manager, organize and promote adult hockey programs

  • Oversee Adult Hockey development and Youth Try Hockey events (subject to change as business needs change)

  • Oversee/Manage program registration process and administration of game schedules

  • Ensure these schedules coincide with the facility master ice schedule

  • Oversee and ensure league parity and safe play

  • Be present for games, player check-in, and other meetings as needed

  • Hold captain’s meetings as needed for each division/season

  • Coordinate with the head of referees regarding any league issues and scheduling

  • Lead the Hockey Clinics and assume primary responsibility for class scheduling, curriculum, and instructional coverage

Adult

  • Learn to Play Hockey: Assist with check-in and gear fitting, organize practice plan, lead coach, instruct on rink session with support coaches

  • After each session, be available to answer questions and interact with players

  • Rookie Clinics: Responsible for preparing and implementing a practice plan for each session, communicating the plan to support coaches, and engaging with participants before and after each session

  • Rookie League:  Assist with registration and jersey distribution, run on-ice tryouts, draft players, organize clinics and assist players with league development and next steps

  • Adult Clinics: Organize and implement an on-ice practice plan and communicate with support staff

  • Ensure participants are engaged/having fun/learning during Clinics/Practices

  • Be available/accessible to answer questions as needed

Youth

  • Rec League Practices and Games:  Assist with check-in and be present for all hockey events and games – 1 hour prior and approximately 1 hour after

  • Be available/accessible to answer questions during other Hockey training

All World Hockey Institute Camp/Clinics:

  • Assist sessions as directed by the Hockey Director

Personnel Management

  • Assist manager/director as directed with the development of ongoing workforce plans for coach and instructor staffing

  • Be active in ongoing coach development and ensure that each instructor provides instruction in a non-threatening, non-discriminatory manner

  • Attend Power Play meetings and other company-required training and department meetings and assist with The Rinks training and onboarding program initiatives as directed

Operations/Marketing & Promotions

  • Coordinate league development with Marketing Representatives

  • Adult LTPH:  Work with the marketing team on the development, design, and layout of brochures, flyers, and advertising media

  • Coordinate with the Marketing department on league/program development

  • Integrate new promotions, i.e., Learn to Play Hockey, into ongoing Hockey Programming and leagues (i.e., Rookie League)

  • Assist with Player of the Month selections, Social Media tips, or other virtual training initiatives (subject to change with social media trends)

  • Other duties as assigned

Skills

  • High school diploma/GED

  • College degree preferred

  • Minimum of three years of experience in developing/running hockey programs

  • Excellent skating/hockey skills and instructional ability

  • Must possess excellent interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills

  • Certified in basic first aid skills (infant and adult) and injury reporting procedures

  • Registered and insured through USA Hockey

  • Strong knowledge of hockey equipment

  • Enthusiastic about teaching

  • Possess dynamic characteristics of energy, assertiveness, drive, enthusiasm, and fun

  • Possess a strong understanding of The Rinks grassroots commitment to quality guest experiences, products, and entertainment

  • Exemplify strong leadership skills and serve as a role model

  • Maintain a consistently professional, motivational, and enthusiastic management style

  • Able to work a flexible work schedule with changing days off and hours, including holidays and weekends, as well as early morning and late evenings

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Education - High School Diploma or Equivalent

Certifications Required – USA Hockey Certification and other CAHA state requirements

Experience Required - 3-5 Year's
