JOB SUMMARY:
Volunteer Skating & Ice Hockey Academy Instructors are responsible for teaching, engaging, and interacting with young children who are learning to ice skate and obtain the basic fundamentals of ice hockey, with a specific focus on goal tending. Instructors must be comfortable in providing instruction, playing games, being organized, a team player and being able to communicate with parents as necessary.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
- Facilitating, instructing and demonstrating skill sets and methodologies associated with hockey skating and playing the game of ice hockey, with specific focus on goal tending.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge and experience with the game of ice hockey.
- Being able to command the attention of small to large groups of skaters/players.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge and experience with hockey skating and playing the game of ice hockey, specifically goal tending.
- Hockey Instructors should have taken at least a Level 1 USA Hockey clinic or be able to complete it within 6 months.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- The volunteer must be able skate on the ice independently while assisting others.
- The volunteer is required to communicate information and ideas clearly, both verbally and in writing, so others will understand.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus in order to monitor the game.
- Considerable exposure to stressful situations while working with community members.
- The noise level in the work environment varies from low to moderate.
- Occasional non-traditional working hours which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
