Position Summary, Duties and Responsibilities

The Adult Hockey Scorekeeper ensures the accurate recording of scores, penalties, and official game statistics for adult hockey leagues. This position exists to support fair competition, maintain official records, and provide timekeeping and administrative support necessary for smooth game operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Β Β 

  • Operate game clock and scoring software to ensure accurate timing, scoring, and penalty tracking during adult hockey games.
  • Record goals, assists, penalties, shots on goal, and other game statistics according to league rules.
  • Communicate with referees to confirm rulings and maintain accurate official documentation.
  • Manage game sheets, verify rosters, and submit complete score sheets following each game.
  • Set up, test, and troubleshoot scoring equipment prior to and during games; escalate equipment issues when necessary.
  • Maintain impartiality and professionalism when interacting with players, referees, coaches, and spectators.
  • Enforce league administrative policies related to player sign-in, suspensions, and eligibility.
  • Work evenings, weekends, and late-night shifts based on adult league schedules.

Job Qualifications

  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to record data accurately in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to operate electronic scorekeeping systems, including clocks and scoring software (training provided).
  • Effective verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with officials and facility staff.
  • Ability to stay calm and focused during high-intensity or competitive adult league environments.
  • Working knowledge of hockey rules strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and late nights.
  • Positive, professional attitude and willingness to learn.

Education and Experience

No specific education requirements; all experience levels welcome. First aid/CPR/AED certification a plus or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.

Work Environment

Physical Activities

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while scorekeeping.
  • Must be able to lift and transport up to 10lbs of scorekeeping or administrative equipment.
  • Ability to work in a cold environment throughout scheduled shifts.
Work Environment

Work occurs in an indoor ice arena environment, with exposure to cold temperatures, loud noise levels, and fast-moving hockey gameplay.
