Summary
The Park Rapids School District Hockey team is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our coaching staff as an Assistant Hockey Coach for the upcoming seasonal program at Park Rapids High School. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for the sport of hockey, a commitment to student-athlete development, and the ability to work collaboratively with the head coach and other staff members. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth of our hockey program and inspire young athletes to excel both on and off the ice.

Responsibilities
- Assist the head coach in planning and implementing practice sessions, game strategies, and overall team development.
- Provide instruction and feedback to players on skills, tactics, and game situations to enhance individual and team performance.
- Help organize and supervise team activities, including practices, games, and tournaments.
- Monitor and promote the academic and personal development of student-athletes.
- Assist in the recruitment and retention of players for the hockey program.
- Maintain open communication with players, parents, and school administration regarding team expectations and progress.
- Collaborate with the head coach on game day preparations, including lineup decisions and in-game adjustments.
- Support the development of a positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect.
- Attend coaching clinics and workshops to stay updated on best practices and trends in hockey coaching.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the head coach or athletic director.

Requirements
- Previous coaching experience in hockey at the high school, club, or collegiate level preferred.
- Strong understanding of hockey fundamentals, strategies, and rules.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with student-athletes, parents, and staff.
- Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes to reach their full potential.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team environment.
- First Aid and CPR certification is preferred.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays during the hockey season.
- A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- High school diploma or equivalent; college degree in a related field is a plus.
