The Head Men’s Ice Hockey Coach is responsible for carrying out all aspects of the Men’s Ice Hockey program necessary to accomplish objectives of the sport within the guideline of the University, the Athletic department, and ACHA.
Position Accountabilities
- Responsible for recruiting highly skilled student athletes for the men’s Ice Hockey program.
- Responsible for adhering to the policies and regulations of the University, Athletics department, conference, and ACHA, and responsible for the orientation of student athletes to these guidelines.
- Oversee the conduct and discipline of student athletes.
- Recruitment of both student-athletes and traditional students, representing the University itself as much as the athletics program. Assisting with conducting admissions-related activities, such as Get On Board Days, application processing, and other admissions-related duties as assigned.
- Provide coaching instructions to individuals on skills, fitness, form and technique, emphasize injury prevention and monitor all program participants.
- Manages and oversees team on road trips and manages all related sport activities.
- Provides leadership and direction to assist coaches and other support personnel.
- Responsible for scheduling, budget control, public relations, program promotions, academic support and retention of student athletes.
- Must promote and demonstrate the five core character values in which the NAIA embraces: Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Sportsmanship, and Servant Leadership.
- Responsible for preparing and maintaining accurate records and reports in a timely manner, particularly regarding athletic budget, eligibility, compliance, and travel documentation.
- Must have the ability to achieve certification to transport students to team athletic events.
- Responsible for working with the private or public entities to secure practice facilities for the Men’s Ice Hockey program.
- Other duties as assigned by Director Athletics.

Physical Requirements
- Requires prolonged sitting or standing. Occasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials.
- Occasional stooping, bending, and reaching.
- Must work indoors and outdoors year round (office, weight room and practice/competition field environments).
- Must work in noisy and crowded environments
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Demonstrated successful experience in playing and/or coaching at collegiate, university, or professional level.
- Knowledge of ACHA rules and regulations.
- A proven record of integrity, high principles and demonstrated skill in developing and motivating student-athletes academically and athletically.
- Have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Valid Driver’s license.
- Candidate must pass a pre-employment background investigation to be hired for this position.
