Position Title: Head Varsity Girls Ice Hockey Coach
Season: Winter Season (October � February)
Position Summary
Waseca High School is seeking a dedicated, organized, and student-focused individual to serve as the Head Varsity Girls Hockey Coach. The Head Coach is responsible for leading and developing a competitive and positive girls hockey program while emphasizing sportsmanship, teamwork, and academic achievement. This position provides leadership for all levels of the girls hockey program and works closely with the Activities Department and school administration.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and conduct daily practices and seasonal training programs.
- Lead the varsity team in all competitions and represent the program professionally.
- Develop and implement a long-term vision for the girls hockey program.
- Promote a positive culture emphasizing respect, sportsmanship, and character development.
- Ensure compliance with all school district policies, conference rules, and MSHSL regulations.
- Supervise assistant coaches and coordinate staff responsibilities.
- Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, administration, and school staff.
- Monitor student-athlete academic progress and promote eligibility and attendance standards.
- Organize team meetings, events, and off-season opportunities.
- Assist in equipment management, uniforms, and facility scheduling.
- Maintain accurate records including rosters, eligibility, and participation forms.
- Promote the program within the school and community.
- Model appropriate conduct at all times
Qualifications
- Previous hockey coaching experience (high school or higher preferred).
- Strong knowledge of hockey fundamentals, strategy, and player development.
- Ability to work effectively with student-athletes of varying skill levels.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to promote a positive and inclusive team environment.
- Commitment to student development both athletically and academically.
- Must meet all state high school league coaching requirements (certifications, background check, State Law, CPR/First Aid, etc.).

Compensation
