    Cloquet High School Girls Head Hockey Coach

    Position Overview
    The Athletic Coach reports directly to the athletic director, who provides overall objectives and final evaluation in conjunction with the high school principals. The position is responsible for organizing and supervising the overall sports program, developing athletes' skills and teamwork, and fostering personal growth through mentorship and leadership. This role ensures compliance with athletic policies, promotes sportsmanship, and supports a positive team culture.

    Position Purpose
    The Athletic Coach position fosters skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship while serving as a positive role model for student-athletes. 

    Primary Responsibilities
    Duties of this job include, but are not limited to:

    • Program Leadership & Supervision
      • Organize and oversee all aspects of the athletic program.
      • Develop and implement training programs, strategies, and game plans.
      • Supervise and mentor assistant and middle school coaches.
    • Athlete Development & Mentorship
      • Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical conditioning.
      • Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and character development.
      • Monitor academic progress and personal growth of student-athletes.
    • Team & Game Management
      • Plan and conduct effective practices and training sessions.
      • Manage game-day operations, including player assignments and strategy.
      • Ensure team compliance with league, district, and state athletic policies.
    • Safety & Compliance
      • Implement injury prevention and emergency response procedures.
      • Ensure athletes meet eligibility requirements, including physical exams and parental consent.
      • Maintain discipline and enforce team rules fairly and consistently.
    • Administrative & Public Relations
      • Assist the athletic director with scheduling, transportation, and budget planning.
      • Maintain accurate records of equipment, injuries, and program needs.
      • Communicate effectively with parents, school officials, and the community.
      • Promote the athletic program through media, booster clubs, and outreach efforts.
      • Assists athletes in their college or advanced educational selection. 

    Qualifications
    The successful candidate has the ability to organize and supervise a total sports program. Additional demonstrated qualifications include:

    • Has previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport.
    • Has substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and, at the same time, must continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field.
    • Must serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through his/her instructions and actions. 

    Licensing Requirements

    No licensure is required for this position.

    Salary and Benefits

    The starting pay for this position is based on the SCHEDULE C EXTRACURRICULAR SCHEDULE.
