Title: Assistant Varsity Coach - Girls' Hockey

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid MN Teacher certification and coaching license preferred.
- Previous coaching experience in the assigned sport is desirable.
- Has knowledge and background in the assigned sport.
- Ability to complete the 3D Coaching coursework in a timely manner.

REPORTS TO:Β
The head coach, in conjunction with the AD.
Β
SUPERVISES:
Athletes and team assigned to him/her and assumes supervisory control over all athletes in the
program when such control is needed.
Β
JOB GOAL:
- To carry out the aims and objectives of the sport program as outlined by the head coach.
- To instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Has a thorough knowledge of policies of the Proctor High School Activities Department and is responsible for the implementation of those policies.
- Has knowledge of the existing system, state, and league regulations and implements the same consistently.
- Understands the proper administrative line of command and refers all student and parent requests or grievances through proper channels. Is aware of all public/staff/departmental meetings that require attendance.
- Generates an attitude of good sportsmanship and fair play by adhering to the MSHSL Code of Ethics.
- Maintains discipline and works to increase morale and cooperation within the school sports program.

ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES:
- Carries out all responsibilities as designated by the head coach.
- Provides assistance and guidance to and safeguards for each participant (by his/her presence at all practices, games, and while traveling).

EQUIPMENT AND FACILITIES:
- Is accountable to the head coach for all equipment and assists the head coach with inventorying, issuing, and storing of equipment.
- Recommends to the head coach budgetary items for the next year in his/her area of the program.
- Monitors coaches' offices and authorizes who may enter.
- Permits the athletes to only be in authorized areas of the building at the appropriate times.
- Examine locker rooms before and after games, checking on the general cleanliness of the facility. Is responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of the specific sports equipment.
- Secures all doors, windows, and locks and checks lights before leaving the building.
- Instills in each player a respect for equipment and school property, its care, and proper use.

PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists the head coach in carrying out his/her responsibilities.
- Instructs team members as to changes in the rules and teaches fundamentals of the sport as outlined by the head coach.
- Maintains a record of team statistics.
- Works within the basic framework and philosophy of the head coach of that sport.
- Attends all staff meetings and carries out scouting assignments as outlined by the head coach.
- Arrives early enough before practices, contests, and meetings to adequately prepare and remains long enough to make sure everyone has a ride.
- Helps in planning and implementation of both in-season and out-of-season conditioning and weight programs.
- Avoids criticizing, admonishing, or arguing with the head coach or any staff member within ears or eyes of players or parents.
- Strives to improve skills by attending clinics and using resources made available by the head coach.
- Β Completes the rules and CEU training on the MSHSL Coaches' Clipboard.
- Completes the 3D Coaching coursework.
- Performs such other duties that are consistent with the nature of the position and may be requested by the head coach.
