Come work at our new state of the art ice & athletics facility. We are seeking an enthusiastic, responsible, and hockey-knowledgeable individual to join our team as a Hockey Supervisor. This position directly oversees Learn-to-Play-Hockey classes, as well as Public Skate staff. Participants will range in age from two through adult. Skill levels will range from first-time skaters through advanced curriculum levels. This position will be responsible for teaching the students how to skate/play, while following all rules and policies as set forth by the Park District and the Oakton Facility Manager. Responsibilities include maintaining a structured class for the appropriate age and level of all participants, safeguarding students, tracking attendance, evaluating for class advancement, and communicating with parents.
Qualifications: This position requires a background in skating and/or hockey and a comfort on the ice as it relates to skating and hockey-specific skills. Must have an approved coaching certification or be able to acquire it within 6 months of hire. Must be CPR/AED and first-aid certified or have the ability to become certified (through our district) within 90 days of employment. Must have a working knowledge of school age children’s developmental stages and behavioral techniques, as well as Oakton’s skating developmental techniques or the ability and willingness to learn.
Availability: Weekdays, evenings and weekends. Schedule is dependent on registrations.
