Description

Job Summary: Improve the technical, tactical, and mental performance of goalies of all ages
and abilities. Design and implement training programs, individualized feedback, and work with
head coaches throughout the season. Assist in fostering a strong, safe, and supportive goalie
community. Reports directly to the Hockey Director.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Skill Development
a. Train goaltenders in fundamental techniques, positioning, tracking,
rebound control, etc
b. Develop advanced skills such as reading plays, odd man situations, etc
2. Development Plans
a. Create age specific plans to create consistent teaching at each age
based off of the recommendations of USA Hockey
b. Create player specific development plans to ensure each goalie has every
opportunity to improve to the best of their ability

3. Team Collaboration:
a. Work with head coaches to ensure goalies are integrated into team
strategies
b. Communicate regularly with coaching staff about goalies’ progress,
readiness, and areas for improvement

4. Growing the Position:
a. Provide opportunity for beginner goalies to start at position
b. Assist in gear sizing and quick change gear for U10 ages

Qualifications

Qualifications:

1. Experience:
a. Prior playing experience as a goaltender at a competitive level
b. Previous goaltender coaching experience
2. Knowledge:
a. In-depth understanding of modern goaltending techniques and coaching
points of emphasis
b. Knowledge of USA Hockey’s American Development Model
3. Certifications:
a. USA Hockey SafeSport and Background Check
b. USA Hockey Coaching Certification
c. Anti-Bullying Certification (After Hiring)
4. Skills:
a. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with athletes,
coaches, and parents
b. Proficient in designing and implementing training programs
c. Ability to demonstrate on ice and participate in training sessions
