Part-Time Hockey Development Captain

Hockey Development Captains will consist of energetic, motivated individuals with a positive attitude that are excited about the growth of hockey in the Tampa Bay Area. Members of the team help support youth hockey initiatives in the community, with the goal of introducing children to the game of hockey, mentoring, and developing hockey players, and creating lifelong Tampa Bay Lightning fans. The Hockey Development Captain will be the main contact when dealing with the event locations and will act as the head of the Hockey Development Team when full-time staff members are not present.
 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Set-up and execute street hockey clinics within the Tampa Bay Area and surrounding communities. These clinics will be held at Schools, YMCAs, Boys and Girls Clubs, and other youth-based facilities.
• Drive equipment and members of the Lightning Made Street Team to the event.
• Communicate with the location on-site to ensure proper set-up.
• Lead the introductory presentation to students going over the basics of hockey.
• Create a positive and encouraging atmosphere while teaching children the game of hockey at an introductory level.
• Promote the Tampa Bay Lightning in a professional and respectful manner while dealing with members of the community.

GAME/EVENT RESPONSIBILITIES

• Hours are flexible; must be able to work at least 10-15 hours a week; opportunity to work up to 20-25 hours a week.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must have a valid Florida Driver’s License 
• Ability to drive an extended van and/or box truck.
• Qualified candidates must have a working knowledge of the game of hockey
• Must be able to teach, encourage and control children ranging from 1st to 12th grade.
• Candidates must be high-energy, positive, team players.
• All members of the Street Team are required to lift (25) pounds and perform some manual labor.
