Position Summary

The Super Rink Assistant Director assists in the overall leadership, operation, maintenance, and strategic management of the Super Rink, with a primary emphasis on facility maintenance systems and infrastructure. This role provides direct leadership over daily facility operations β€” building systems maintenance, ice operations, staffing, safety, and customer service β€” while supporting long-term planning, budgeting, and capital improvement projects. The Assistant Director is a member of the facility leadership team and acts on behalf of the Director of Operations in their absence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and technical oversight for the facility’s refrigeration system changeover project
  • Assist the Director of Operations in leadership and administration of the Super Rink; participate in strategic planning and policy development
  • Maintain ice resurfacing equipment, refrigeration systems, and ice plant equipment; establish preventative maintenance protocols
  • Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical building systems
  • Supervise full-time staff, set performance expectations, and ensure safety compliance (OSHA and applicable codes)
  • Assist in developing and administering the annual operating budget and capital planning
  • Oversee operational planning for tournaments and large events, coordinating with organizers and tenants

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Facilities Management, Business Administration, Recreation, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5–7 years of progressively responsible facility operations experience, including ice resurfacer/edger maintenance
  • Knowledge of refrigeration, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems; valid driver’s license
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree, Boilers License, Certified Ice Technician (CIT) designation

Schedule & Compensation

Typical schedule is 45–50 hours/week including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Hiring range $85,000–$110,000 annually, based on qualifications and experience. Full-Time, Salary. Reports to the Super Rink Director of Operations.
