SALARY RANGE: $15.00 - $30.00 Hourly

BACKGROUND CHECK: Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint screening and must be successfully completed. 

PROBATION: All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a mandatory 6-month probation.

CLASS DESCRIPTION

Baltimore City Recreation and Parks is seeking a community aide, Zamboni driver.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Qualified individuals should have excellent skills and strong experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Responsible for operating and driving the Zamboni ice resurfacing machine, edge conditioning, and other motorized equipment.
• Maintain accurate records of ice cuts, blade changes, and preventative maintenance.
• Performs custodial work in offices and building interior/exterior to include sweeping, mopping, waxing and polishing floors using industrial vacuum cleaners, and scrubbing and buffing machines.
• Event set-ups and breakdowns.
• Communicate regularly with maintenance staff about repair and maintenance needs on all equipment and assigned jobs.
• Relate to the public and to customers in a professional, courteous, and respectful manner, appropriately responding to complaints.
• Occasionally using ladders to wash windows.
• Assist with sweep outdoors and removing snow or perform other incidental seasonal tasks.
• Ability to learn to drive large equipment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

On or before the date of applying, successful candidates should possess the following:

• Willing to work as a team player.
• Excellent Customer Service skills
• Able to lift 25 lbs. without any limitations.
• Knowledge working with facility equipment.
• Must be able to work flexible schedules including weekends, nights, and holidays.
