Position Summary
- All coaching positions are seasonal, one-year appointments subject to reappointment.
- Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and supervision of the assigned athletic program.
- Promote student-athlete development, sportsmanship, teamwork and academic success while ensuring compliance with all school, district and Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) policies and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Directly responsible to the Athletic Director for the day-to-day operations of the team.
- Coach individual participants in the skills necessary for achievement in the assigned sport.
- Plan, organize and supervise practices, competitions, and team activities.
- Organize and communicate daily schedules for athletes and assistant coaches.
- Maintain accurate records including squad lists, injury reports, game results, incident reports and physical examination records.
- Report scores and related information to the athletic office and media outlets as requested.
- Promote academic achievement, citizenship, sportsmanship and positive behavior among student-athletes.
- Determine and monitor athlete academic eligibility requirements.
- Recommend the purchase of equipment, uniforms and supplies as appropriate.
- Oversee the safety and condition of athletic facilities and equipment at all times students are present.
- Conduct regular safety inspections of all equipment and playing areas.
- Enforce discipline and appropriate conduct consistent with school and athletic department expectations.
- Ensure compliance with all rules and regulations established by the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA).
- Supervise the distribution, collection and inventory of uniforms and equipment.
- Communicate effectively with students, families, staff, administration and community members.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Athletic Director in the best interest of the school and athletic program.
Qualifications
- Previous coaching experience in the assigned sport at the high school and/or collegiate level preferred.
- Knowledge of the assigned sport, including rules, strategies, and skill development.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, parents/guardians, staff and community members.
- Strong organizational, leadership and communication skills.
- Bachelorβs degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
- MIAA Coaching Education certification required or ability to obtain certification within required timelines.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred or required based on district expectations.

- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a CORI and SORI background check and fingerprint-based national criminal history check, in accordance with Massachusetts law.
