Elected Director - Hockey Australia Work From Anywhere

Hockey Australia (HA) is the national governing body for Hockey in Australia responsible for providing Australians with the opportunity to play hockey from junior levels through to elite competition. HA and its Member Associations have set the strategic vision towards 2032 that every person in Australia is connected to Hockey.

The Role

HA is seeking to elect an experienced and suitably qualified leader who is interested in playing a lead role in steering the strategic direction of the sport, contributing to its governance and supporting our CEO, David Pryles and Executive Leadership Team.

Within the overall responsibility for the effective governance and oversight of Hockey Australia, Directors are expected to participate actively in the following three areas:

• Governance
• Strategy  
• Financial and Operational Performance  

Criteria

The HA Board and Nominations Committee regularly review the mix of skills and experience of the Board to ensure alignment to the HA Strategy and industry governance requirements.This process has identified the opportunity to enhance the Board’s skills capability through the consideration of applicants with the following skills and experience:

Technical Skills:

• Recent lived high-performance experience as an athlete in any sport.
• Strategic, balanced view of the full National Sporting Organisation landscape from recreational junior levels through to elite senior competition.

General Skills:

• Emerging Non-Executive Director with board or committee experience.
• Commercial acumen.
• Strong stakeholder management skills.

How to Apply

To be eligible for election, a nominee must be endorsed by a nominating Member Association and demonstrate how they meet the desired skills and experience to determine suitability for a position on the HA Board. 

Where required, members of the Nominations Committee can introduce interested nominees to a State or Territory Member Association to support the nominations process.

Nominees will be required to complete a Nominee Details Form and submit a CV of up to two pages in length.
