Position Summary, Duties and Responsibilities

Bring your love for hockey and contribute significantly to the development of aspiring athletes as a Learn-to-Play Hockey Coach. This role involves designing engaging practice plans, emphasizing skill development, and ensuring a positive learning experience within the USA Hockey American Development Model framework.

  • Lead the Way: Conduct learn-to-play hockey classes, focusing on fundamental skills and creating an enjoyable learning environment.Β 
  • Innovate: Design instruction and practice plans aligned with the USA Hockey American Development Model.Β 
  • Connect: Address inquiries from parents and athletes, promoting engagement and positive experiences.Β 
  • Organize: Assist with class setup, maintain attendance records, and ensure the smooth execution of each session.Β 
  • Inspire: Create a positive and inclusive atmosphere that instills a love for hockey in every player.Β 
  • Stay updated on USA Hockey certification and complete annual concussion awareness training.Β 
  • Utilize prior coaching experience to enhance the overall coaching approach.Β 
  • Provide additional support for goaltending if experienced in this area.

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum hiring age: 15.
  • Possess USA Hockey certification and completion of annual concussion awareness training.Β 
  • Prior coaching experience is essential; goaltending experience is a valuable asset.
  • Passion for hockey and commitment to creating a positive learning environment.

Education and Experience

  • First aid and CPR/AED certification.Β 
  • The ability to score keep adult hockey is an asset.

Work Environment

Physical Activities

  • Must be able to bend down/squat
  • Must be able to sit down and get up on ice.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to monitor participants, ensure safety, and respond to signals or emergencies.
  • Ability to work most of the day on your feet, performing both active supervision and hands-on tasks.
Work Environment

Work may occur in environments with poor acoustics, distractions, or high activity levels.
